​Susan Goldberg is vice dean and professor of practice at Arizona State University, with joint appointments in the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and College of Global Futures. In this role since February 2022, she leads new programs and strategic partnerships. Previously, Goldberg was editor in chief of National Geographic Magazine and editorial director of National Geographic Partners, leading the magazine to nine National Magazine Awards, among other honors. Her journalism career also includes positions with Bloomberg News, including Washington bureau chief and executive editor, the (Cleveland) Plain Dealer, the San Jose Mercury News, and USA Today. She led reporting that was honored with the 1990 Pulitzer Prize for Breaking News at the Mercury News, as well as four Pulitzer finalists at the Plain Dealer.​
